My art skills are pretty rusty. I haven't painted or made anything in awhile but I'm happy with it. It definitely makes me want to do more!

Chinese lanterns (the plant)
Lately, I've been working on a new series inspired by the Chinese lantern plant. The plant acts more like a weed and has been taking over my flower bed for the last 2 years. It's everywhere and it's annoying but in September it produces these wonderful bright orange lanterns. (when I get my new camera I will post a pic!) As they dry out the lanterns become papery and the orange starts to fade slightly. They're covered in these small veins that make elegant patterns and I'm a little obsessed. I've been staring at last seasons lanterns for a year now trying to get inspired and find time to create something in the likeness of these little beauties. I finally did paint something! I posted a pic below. Not a very good picture (did I mention that I'm getting a new camera?)
